CUNY AR/VR Group Meeting – Spring 2021

Dear Colleagues,

Greetings from the CUNY AR/VR Immersive Interest Group. Due to the pandemic, our group did not meet in the fall of 2020, but we are happy to announce a date and time for a meeting this spring: Tuesday, May 18th, from 1pm-3pm. The Zoom link is at the bottom of this email.

This group was initially founded by Matthew MacVey, Academic Program Specialist, AR/VR Journalism Learning Lab (Newmark Graduate School of Journalism) and we all thank him for starting this initiative and organizing our first meet ups. Matt is now busy helping with the Entrepreneurial Journalism Creators Program at Newmark, so he has passed the torch to Jason Moore (Associate Professor of Emerging Media, Brooklyn College) and Wole Oyekoya, PhD (Associate Professor of Computer Science, Hunter College). Jason and Wole are excited to help keep this organization going strong.

Our meetup will follow a similar structure to our past meetings: we’ll spend some time up front introducing ourselves and our interest and work with AR/VR. Then we’ll allow time for several presentations from our group members: share your current research or creative work, or speak on a topic related to AR/VR that you think the group might find interesting.

If you are planning on attending, please register in advance for this meeting: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZEucequrDwpGdXG9flecFW3sZyeErR9zKs7. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. Also, if you have a topic you’d like to present, please email Wole:  oo700@hunter.cuny.edu. Anyone who wants to present can do so, and if we have too many presenters for this semester, we will get to the others in our next meetup.
